Iwelumo rues Boyd exit

Striker Chris Iwelumo admits he is disappointed by Kris Boyd's decision to quit the Scotland set-up but will not criticise him for it.

The Wolves frontman, who made his debut against Norway on Saturday, feels Rangers star Boyd will be a big loss.

Iwelumo said: "It's disappointing he's come to that decision. His goalscoring tally is unbelievable. But it's not my place to convince him otherwise."

Burley refuses to quit

Scotland boss George Burley has accused Rangers striker Kris Boyd of turning his back on his country - but insists he has no intention of doing the same.

Burley received a vote of confidence from SFA chief Gordon Smith - who assured him his job was safe regardless of the Norway World Cup qualifier.

The former Hearts boss said: "It's for the association to do whatever. They've chosen me and I'll stick by it."

Burley issues warning

Scotland boss George Burley has warned players in the wake of the Kris Boyd saga that he will continue to pick those who are in form at club level.

Rangers striker Boyd has quit Scotland under Burley due to his lack of involvement in the national set-up.

Burley said: "Reputations are in the past. It's what you do now, not three or six months ago. I go to watch games and training all the time."
