Manchester City are in pole position to claim a place in next year's Uefa Cup after the FA were awarded an extra place in next season's competition.

European football's governing body revealed that English teams had topped their fair play competition, meaning an extra spot in the qualifying rounds.

The FA will reward the highest-ranked side that has not already qualified for Europe, which is likely to be City.
