No easy credit 'quick return'
The head of the city watchdog has said the UK will not see a "rapid return" to generous mortgage credit and homebuyers will need "significant deposits".
Lord Turner of Ecchinswell said banks have realised offering 100% mortgages is not "a very sensible thing to do".
The Financial Services Authority chairman said the challenge for the financial sector is to ensure credit is available on reasonable terms.
