Airlines cut surcharges

British Airways has joined rival carrier Virgin Atlantic in reducing passenger fuel surcharges in the wake of falling oil prices.

Changes by both airlines apply to economy and premium-economy passengers, with cuts of up to £13 being made.

Oil prices have fallen to $76 a barrel on concern bank bail-outs in the US and Europe will fail to stop the world economy hitting a slowdown.
