Energy firms hike bills
Scottish & Southern Energy and E.ON have become the latest energy firms to hike gas and electricity prices.
E.ON, which has 5.5 million UK customers, blamed soaring wholesale gas costs for the move to raise gas bills by 26% and electricity prices by 16%.
Separately, Scottish & Southern Energy has upped gas prices by 29.2% and electricity bills by 19.2%. Shares in Scottish & Southern fell 5p to 1410p.
