Jobs fear as M&S updates

Marks & Spencer is expected to announce up to 1,000 job losses as it reveals its festive trading figures.

The retailer, which employs about 70,000 staff, is set to cut positions from shop floors and several hundred from head office and support sectors.

Analysts predict M&S will downgrade its profit targets and slash its dividend as like-for-like general merchandise sales decline by up to 10%.
