Hit Abba musical Mamma Mia! has become the biggest-selling DVD ever, online retail giant Amazon has said.

The film has sold "several hundred thousand" copies on Amazon alone since its release at the end of November, UK managing director Brian McBride said.

He said: "We are not recession-proof but as it bites people will still be looking for value and see the internet as the easiest place to check prices."
