Brewer Cains in crisis
Around 1,000 jobs are under threat at Cains Beer Company after the brewer and pubs group went into administration.
Administrator PricewaterhouseCoopers said it is working with landlords to ensure its brewery and pubs remain open while it seeks a buyer for the firm.
Liverpool-based Cains, which has about 100 pubs, has been battered by rising costs, the impact of the smoking ban and a disputed tax bill.
