Wholsale gas price high
The price of wholesale gas has reached a record high of 109p per therm in the wake of the closure of a major North Sea pipeline.
Costs rose 14% as Norwegian firm Statoil Hydro said it is closing the pipeline linking the Kvitebjoern field and an onshore processing site.
The pipeline is a major contributor to European gas supplies. Before Statoil's announcement the price was around 90p.
