Katy Perry to host MTV awards
Katy Perry will host the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards.
The I Kissed A Girl singer will be hosting an awards ceremony for the first time - and she's even been nominated for Best New Act and Most Addictive Track.
Katy, 23, said: "I was so excited when I heard that I was nominated for two awards, but when I was asked to host the show I wet myself."
The 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Liverpool Echo Arena in November.
Katy added: "To follow in the footsteps of previous hosts Christina Aguilera, Tom Jones, P Diddy and Snoop Dogg is an incredible honour - do they know what they are getting into?"
Californian born Katy will be joined by her band members who will act as the official house band on the night.
Katy and her band will also perform songs, together with other performers and award presenters.
The list of presenters and artists at the event includes Grace Jones, Solange Knowles – sister of Beyonce - Sugababes, Tiziano Ferro, Tokio Hotel and Travis from Gym Class Heroes.

Ratings monster for Peter Kay
Peter Kay's spoof Channel 4 reality show was a monster hit winning 5.5m viewers - the station's highest audience of the year.
Britain's Got The Pop Factor And Possibly A New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Strictly On Ice even beat the Big Brother final and launch night which were seen by 5.1m and 5.2m.
It also beat ITV1's hit drama Heartbeat which could only manage 5.32m.
Doctor Who rivals for awards
David Tennant is to go head-to-head with his Doctor Who sidekick Catherine Tate at the National Television Awards.
Both stars have been nominated for Outstanding Drama Performance for their roles as the Time Lord and his assistant Donna Noble in the BBC drama.
This year will be the first time male and female stars have been pitted against each other in the acting category.

The Playboy-themed The House Bunny was the surprise No 1 UK movie this weekend making just under £1m - a modest gross.
It stars Scary Movie's Anna Faris as a playboy bunny thrown out of the Playboy Mansion because she's too old at 27. Her "mentor" Hugh Hefner is 82. She then becomes "mother" to a bunch of female students.

X Factor rejects Bad Lashes have rapped their mentor Louis Walsh for paying more attention to boyband JLS.
On Saturday the female quartet were the first act to be booted off the ITV1 talent show and they claimed that Walsh doesn't know how to manage girlbands.
Emily McNamee said: "Louis said, 'I know how boybands work. I've done it with Westlife.' He managed Girls Aloud for a while but said he wasn't good."
Red card for Strictly Jessie
Actress Jessie Wallace has been told to quickstep off Strictly Come Dancing after judges said her moves would be more at home on the football field.
The ex-EastEnders star and partner Darren Bennett faced singer Heather Small and Brian Fortuna in a dance-off.
Wallace, who played Kat Slater on the BBC soap, was the second EastEnder to be booted off the show, following in the footsteps of Gillian Taylforth.
