Katy Perry to host MTV awards
Katy Perry will host the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards.
The I Kissed A Girl singer will be hosting an awards ceremony for the first time - and she's even been nominated for Best New Act and Most Addictive Track.
Katy, 23, said: "I was so excited when I heard that I was nominated for two awards, but when I was asked to host the show I wet myself."
The 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Liverpool Echo Arena in November.
Katy added: "To follow in the footsteps of previous hosts Christina Aguilera, Tom Jones, P Diddy and Snoop Dogg is an incredible honour - do they know what they are getting into?"
Californian born Katy will be joined by her band members who will act as the official house band on the night.
Katy and her band will also perform songs, together with other performers and award presenters.
The list of presenters and artists at the event includes Grace Jones, Solange Knowles – sister of Beyonce - Sugababes, Tiziano Ferro, Tokio Hotel and Travis from Gym Class Heroes.
