Canterbury: Kent v Lancashire, Day 2
The home side gave the Red Rose county a pounding on the second day as they closed on 145-1 in their second innings to forge an imposing lead of 303 runs.
Joe Denly was 63no and Neil Dexter 69no after skipper Robert Key had fallen for just four. Lancashire had been skittled out for just 125 in their first innings as the in-form Robbie Joseph claimed 5-34 and Martin Saggers 4-26.
The Oval: Surrey v Sussex, Day 2
Reigning county champions Sussex have plenty of hard work ahead of them if they are to avoid defeat against bottom side Surrey as they closed on 97-3 in their first innings - 358 behind.
The home side had piled up 455 after Mark Ramprakash (178) had put on 232 for the third wicket with Jon Batty (102). Jade Dernbach then claimed two wickets to put Sussex in trouble.
Rose Bowl: Hampshire v Somerset, Day 3
All-rounder Ian Blackwell hit an unbeaten 104 to help Somerset reach 385-7 and put them firmly on course for maximum first innings batting points.
Marcus Trescothick struck 65 and there were also solid contributions from James Hildreth (50) and Peter Trego (58), but it was Blackwell who stole the show with his knock coming off 174 balls with 10 fours and a six.
County Championship Div 2
Colchester: Essex v Worcs, Day 2
Essex closed the day on 10-0, a lead of 34 runs, after bowling the visitors out for 258 in their first innings with Ben Smith scoring a fine 74 and Gareth Batty chipping in with 60.
James Middlebrook was the pick of the hosts' bowlers as he returned figures of 3-56 with Graham Napier picking up 2-41. Jason Gallian (7no) and Varun Chopra (2no) were not out at the close.
County Championship Div 2
Lord's: Middlesex v Leics, Day 2
A fine 63 from Matthew Boyce helped Leicestershire reach 184-3 at the close in reply to Middlesex's 367, which was underpinned by a superb 101 from England batsman Ed Joyce.
Greg Smith (23) and Paul Nixon (37) also chipped in for the visitors with South African HD Ackerman reaching the close unbeaten on 33, his partner Jim Allenby is 4no overnight.
County Championship Div 2
Bristol: Gloucs v Northants, Day 3
The hosts closed on 129-2 in reply to Northamptonshire's 349 all out, which included a wonderful innings of 149 from captain David Sales as the home side's bowlers were made to toil.
Kadeer Ali (63no) got Gloucestershire's reply off to a good start but William Porterfield (26) and Hamish Marshall (11) went relatively cheaply to leave the hosts with plenty to do.
