Elizabeth Taylor (no, not that one) wrote three books considered to be lost classics, and this is a solid adaptation of one of them.
Joan Plowright is the title character trying to bond with her pompous son. When she meets Rupert Friend he agrees to pretend to be her offspring to impress her stuffy hotel pals.
It's charming and, of course, wonderfully acted. Verdict 4/5
