Every financial cloud has a silver lining.
Perhaps the Government will now save £10bn by 2010 by bringing the troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan and save at least £8bn by either cancelling the 2012 games or at least insisting that the other nations make a very substantial contribution towards the costs involved.
