Mid's Nassau defence
Henry Cecil's Midday will face six rivals as she bids for back-to-back successes in the Blue Square Nassau Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday.

The 4yo has only raced once this season and meets the likes of Stacelita, Rosanara and Strawberrydaiquiri.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for owner Khalid Abdullah, said: "Henry's suitably pleased with her as she worked pretty well the other day."

Mid kept busy

Connections of Nassau Stakes favourite Midday are eyeing an end-of-season campaign with their star filly.

Khalid Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said: "Her programme really has been a late summer-autumn campaign because of races like the Nassau, the Yorkshire Oaks and Breeders' Cup.

"Henry wants to have her right for those. They are going to be tough races but we are very excited with her."

Hawk misses Cup cut

Leading fancy Hawkeyethenoo has missed the cut for Saturday's Bluesq.com Stewards' Cup at Goodwood.

Jim Goldie's sprinter needed six withdrawals but only four rated higher than him - Elnawin, Global City, Damien and Quest For Success - have not taken up the opportunity.

Topping the maximum 28 declarations is Richard Fahey's grand old campaigner Knot In Wood, who has been third twice.
