Weigh-in with Westwood

With The Open just over a week away, all eyes will switch to the Loch Lomond Golf Club this week for the Barclays Scottish Open, writes Les Sennett.

Ernie Els is chasing a third win in this event and is strongly fancied along with Phil Mickelson, but we like the look of Lee Westwood.

The winner here back in 1998, Westwood has been in superb form this year and is worth supporting at 14/1.

Lee Westwood will be looking for his first major title at Royal Birkdale next week and he gets our vote in this week's Barclays Scottish Open.

The 35-year-old from Worksop has been in fantastic form so far this season, finishing third in the US Open and in a tie for 11th at the Masters.

Westwood maintained his good form when tied for fifth at the recent French Open and he will not be far away here.

Dane well worth a look

The Barclays Scottish Open on the banks of Loch Lomond is a great tournament and punters wanting some value should have a good look at Soren Kjeldsen.

The Dane finished in a tie for 11th here 12 months ago when a second-round 74 was to prove costly.

The 33-year-old has had three top-15 finishes in his last four European Tour events and at odds of 60/1 (VC Bet) he represents excellent each-way value.
