Byrd for a repeat win

Having done us a couple of favours already this year it is hard to ignore the claims of Kenny Perry at this week's John Deere Classic.

However, odds of 8/1 do not appeal to us for this event and we will be putting our faith in Jonathan Byrd.

The American is the defending champion and the 30-year-old was also tied for second here in 2003. A little out of sorts, he can bounce back to his best.

Gore just raring to go

The PGA Tour is in Illinois this week for the John Deere Classic and one well worth a second look at a big price is Jason Gore, at a whopping 150/1.

The American was tied for 10th at Deere Run in 2006 and 12 months ago he carded rounds of 66, 68 and 69, only for a third-round 78 to ruin his chances.

Gore withdrew after 10 holes in his second round at the AT&T National last week but he will be raring to go here.
